5 Ways to Keep Your Hardwood Floors Warm in Winter
In the summertime, your hardwood floors can be a cool respite from the punishing heat outside. However, in the wintertime, your hardwood floors can feel worse than walking on hot coal. If you live in a particularly cold region, or if you have an older home, you may be experiencing all the downsides of having hardwood floors. The solution, though, is to not remove the hardwood floors – removing them could decrease the value of your home – the solution is to make your hardwood floors warmer and more tolerable. When it comes down to it, there are many different solutions and for your personal needs, one may work better than another. Here are five ways to keep your hardwood floors warm in the winter.
- Use a space heater. If your hardwood floors get particularly cold in the morning, you may want to have an automatic space heater that turns on in the morning. Blasting your hardwood floors with heat can increase the room temperature and the floor temperature. If you get up with the sun, you are probably sick of stepping on your hardwood floors and feeling the chill travel through your bones.
- Install heater vents along the floors. Installing vents along the floor will allow you to provide a flow of warm air to your wood floors. If you like to walk around barefoot at home, this can be an excellent solution. For instance, a company, like Florida Bryant Air Conditioner Dealers, can install vents in your walls. Just make sure that the vents are angled at such a degree that they do not damage your wood floors, because repairing wood floors can be quite expensive. So, be sure that the company that installs the vents measures the height accordingly.
- Point your vents downward. If you already have vents along the bottom of your wall, you may want to simply point the vents downward. This may seem like too simple of a solution, but there is a good chance that you haven’t thought of it yet. All you have to do is point your vents downwards so that the air can flow out and towards your wood floors. After doing this, you will notice that your floors are much warmer.
- Install radiant heating. This method is a little more cost prohibitive, but it can be one of the best ways to heat your wood floors. Radiant heating requires lifting your wood floors and then laying down radiant heating panels. With the flick of a button, you can literally control the temperatures of your floors. When it comes down to it, this is one of the most efficient ways to control the temperature of your home.
- Place area rugs down. If your wood floors get ice cold in the winter, you may benefit from the comfort of placing area rugs down. You can probably place one at the foot of your bed, in your living room and anywhere else that you may spend a lot of time on bare feet. At the end of the day, area rugs may also add a unique aesthetic touch to your home.
